OUTREACH COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Outreach Committee sincerely appreciate the support we have received this past year from the congregation at Grace, for your ongoing care and concern for others who are not as fortunate as us.
A full outline of our donations and projects will be listed in the annual report. We encourage you to read it over in order that you see where your donations have been directed.
The “Make a Difference for 10 cents a day” program will start again in February. This has been greatly supported and we trust that will continue for 2012.
The Outreach Committee is organizing something different for January. We will be having a Dessert Trivia Night, Friday, January 27th at 7 pm. The evening will begin with coffee and dessert, then your memory will be tested on Grace Trivia, with a selection of slides and corresponding list of questions. Tickets will be available from the Outreach Committee for $5. This should be a fun evening for reminiscing and looking back at our history. Rides will be provided for those requiring transportation.
UCW
In 2012 the United Church Women will be celebrating their Golden Anniversary. It has been fifty years since the Women’s Auxiliary and the Women’s Missionary Society amalgamated to form one group under the new name “United Church
Women”. A national celebration will be held at Redeemer College in Hamilton in the summer and plans are being made now for special events here at Grace. We hope that all of you will want to participate.

ACTIVITIES AT GRACE UNITED CHURCH
Whether you have been in this congregation for some time or are newly arrived the following outline of activities available at the church and other information may be helpful.
Men’s Breakfast
A chance for the men of the congregation to enjoy a hot breakfast and time together on the last Sunday of the month at 8:30 am. Contact Harry Price at 905-774-6791 to be put on a call list for a reminder and in order to confirm attendance.
Crafts & Quilting
The General Purpose room downstairs is abuzz every Wednesday morning from 9 am to noon. A quilt is always on the go so if you can quilt or want to learn here is your chance. Also, a small but active group meets around a table to craft items to be sold in November at our annual Snowflake Bazaar. No experience necessary. Fellowship and fun is our chief objective. Contact Sandy Murphy at 905-774-3068 for more info.
United Church Women (UCW)
There are two units available. Unit 1 meets the 3rd Monday of the Month at 1:30 pm. Allegro meets the 2nd Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Meetings take place in the Parlour. Two joint general meetings also take place each year.
Our UCW Units enjoy devotions, planning events, catering and special programs but most of all getting together.
2012 marks the 50th anniversary of UCW so it is a great year to get involved as special events are being planned. For more info call Susan Baker at 905-774-5981.
Senior Choir
If you enjoy singing, the choir may be for you. You don’t have to be good, just enthusiastic! Practices take place Thursday at 7:30 pm in the Sanctuary. More traditional anthems and hymns are the choirs focus. Contact Marie Glaves, Choir Directory at 905-774-4984 for more details.
Rainbow Choir
Children aged 5 and up practice at 9:30 am on Sunday Mornings in the Parlour. The children offer music once or twice a month during worship time. In October, practices begin for the annual Christmas Pageant in December directed by Carolyn Jones. For more information call Kirby Good at 905-774-6202
Ministry of Music Group
If your taste in Christian Music is more contemporary or if you can contribute to worship with a solo, duet or group song, we really want to talk to you! Join our e-mail group where you can receive links to listen to songs to learn which will be used for congregational hymns. Or give us a date you are able to offer special music during worship. Let Rev. Donna know at the church office where you may be able to help.
Infants
An infant care room is available for nursing Moms and crying babies. It is located immediately through the door at the front left of the sanctuary to the left. A change table and rocking chair is available. Nursery care for infants to three years old is available downstairs in the General Purpose. For details call Pat Forsey at 905-774-3547.
Sunday School
Following children’s time in worship, children age 4 to 14 years enjoy crafts and lessons in age related groups. Call Pat Forsey for info.
Name Tags
Whether you are new to the congregation or have been here forever you cannot possibly know or remember everyone’s name. Name Tags are the answer and are available at both entrances to the sanctuary. You are welcome to create one for yourself and to let us know if and when you would like a more permanent version by letting Rev. Donna or the church office know. Please take part in this outreach ministry in our church.
Offering Envelopes or PAR
In order to receive an income tax receipt for any donations you make to the church, offering envelopes are available in the front lobby or in the Lilian Allan Hall. Be sure to provide contact info to assure you receive your receipt at the appropriate time.
If remembering an envelope each week seems like work, perhaps PAR would be a perfect alternative. PAR stands for Pre Authorized Remittance. You can arrange to have your offering transferred each month directly from your bank account to the church account. Forms are available in the church lobby or you can contact Kate Head, Treasurer at 905-774-8213.
Discussion Group
Every Thursday morning at 10 am a discussion group meets in the Intermediate Room downstairs. All ideas and points of view are accepted in this open, safe environment and the coffee is always on. Contact Rev. Donna or Duncan Currie at 905-774-7385 for details.
Family Fun Night
About once a month this event is held on a Friday night at 5 pm. It’s a chance for young families to gather to share a meal and/or share activities such as bowling, shuffle board or watching a movie. For more info contact May Lynne Ricker at 905-774-8564.
Snowflake Bazaar
The second Saturday in November is the date always set aside for the Annual Snowflake Bazaar. This event is in preparation all year long. Knitting, sewing, crafting, quilting, baking, collecting garage sale items and books for donation plus many other things go into preparing for this wonderful fundraiser for the church. For details contact Susan Baker at 905-774-5981
